Seguindo uma série de projetos desenvolvidos com uso de imagens fotográficas adesivadas sobre espelho, uma espécie de retorno da imagem ao material ou situação de origem, elaborei o projeto “Refletir na terra”. O projeto se constitui como site specific numa posição limite entre os espaços urbano e rural localizados no Morro Jesus Pobre, pertencente à comunidade Valenciana, na Espanha.
Após escolher o lugar para a instalação da obra, realizei dois ensaios fotográficos em pontos distintos, porém próximos entre si. O meu posicionamento garantiu a execução de um panorama fragmentado daquele espaço, gerando as imagens que formariam dois cubos a serem inseridos no ambiente, os cubos foram construídos de madeira revestida com espelhos. Dessa forma, os panoramas foram adesivados nas laterais dos cubos. A posição dos cubos foi determinada pelo deslocamento translacional e rotacional do meu corpo, enquanto realizada as imagens fotográficas.
Jesus Pobre é uma população integrada à cidade de Dénia, que conta com aproximadamente 600 habitantes, situada numa área privilegiada que procura manter uma estrutura e desenvolvimento de acordo com um crescimento controlado. A intervenção foi realizada no início do “Camí del Depòsit”, próximo da montanha de Jesus Pobre, marco divisor entre as ruas típicas da cidade e a área rural.
Ao instalar a obra no local determinado, os dois panoramas configurados na superfície dos cubos provocavam algumas reflexões que iam além do ato físico. Poderíamos pensar sobre a expansão das cidades em direção à área rural, um reflexo do crescimento humano e descontrole ambiental. Contudo, tais leituras parecem apenas apontar para interpretações geradas pela experiência com a obra. Outras associações surgiram desde o início da sua construção e, por fim, instalação, especialmente no que se refere à imagem fotográfica adaptada sobre uma superfície tridimensional espelhada.
O “realinhamento improvável” das imagens fotografadas refletidas na superfície espelhada dão lugar a várias experiências visuais e, consequentemente, outras fotografias que, a princípio, parecem direcionar para uma exploração do olhar, no qual as fotografias de materiais e situações encontradas em nosso cotidiano geram maneiras de ver o mundo, de novo.
Ao escolher um lugar próximo do núcleo urbano, convertendo-o em seu “kilômetro zero” particular, o cubo aponta como sinal inequívoco do lugar e suas manifestações como simulacro e realidade numa mesma superfície.
Neste trabalho, apresento a possibilidade de reflexão de uma imagem sobre si mesma, pois as imagens fotográficas adesivadas sobre as faces do cubo, “olha” e reflete a si mesma, promovendo assim um encontro do passado (fotografado) com o presente (reflexo), uma tentativa de aproximar dois tempos numa mesma superfície. Uma imagem que está sempre se contaminando com o fluxo da vida.
Following a series of projects developed with the use of photographic images on synthetic mat mirror, a kind of return to the image material or original situation, I created the project "Reflecting on earth." The project is constituted as a site specific in a limit position between the urban and rural spaces located in Morro Jesus Pobre, belonging to the Valencian community, Spain.
After choosing the place for installing the piece, I undertook two photographic essays at different sites, but near to each other. My positioning ensured the implementation of a fragmented landscape of that space, creating images that would form two cubes to be inserted in the environment. The cubes were built of wood covered with mirrors. Thus, the panoramas were on the sides of the cubes. The position of the cubes was determined by the displacement translational and rotational of my body while I made the images.
Jesus Pobre is a vila integrated to the city of Denia with approximately 600 inhabitants, located in a privileged area that seeks to maintain a structure and development in accordance to a controlled growth. The intervention was placed at the beginning of "Cami del deposit", close to the mountain Jesus Pobre, landmark between the typical streets of the city and the countryside area.
When installing the work at the location, the two panoramas configured on the surface of the cubes provoked some thoughts that went beyond the physical act. We could think about the expansion of cities toward the rural area, a reflection of human growth and environmental disorder. However, this way of analysing seem to just point to interpretations generated by experience with the work. Other associations have also been made since the begining of the construction and, finally, installation, especially as refers to the adapted photographic image onto a three-dimensional surface mirrored.
The "unlikely realignment" of the photographed images reflected in the mirrored surface give rise to various visual experiences and, consequently, other pictures that at first seem to direct to an exploring vision, in which pictures of the materials and situations present in our everyday life generate ways of seeing the world, again.
My choice to place the cube near to urban area, transforming it into the village "kilometer zero", is a clear sign of the place and its manifestations as simulation and reality on the same surface.
In this piece, I present the possibility of reflection of an image on itself - the images stick on the cube surface, "look" and reflects itself, thus promoting an encounter of the past (photographed) to the present (reflection) an attempt to bring together two times on the same surface. An image is always being interfered with the flow of life.
